Mark McCollum / Educator, theatre-maker & independent thinker

I’m Mark McCollum, an educator, theatre-maker and independent thinker based in Donegal, with 30 years’ experience of working with people, ideas and stories.

My work has taken me across Europe and to America, bringing together teaching, community education, leadership, diversity and theatre. Across those settings, my interest has stayed with people: how we understand one another, work through problems and find ways forward.

I hold a degree in psychology and a QQI Level 6 qualification in Training and Development. I was also awarded a scholarship by NUI Galway to pursue a master’s in literature. That combination of psychology, literature and practical education informs how I listen, ask questions and help people make sense of their experiences.

I’ve worked with young people through the LEAD programme in East Donegal and Tyrone, and in theatre as Assistant Director on As I Lay Dreaming.

Today, I’m available to help individuals, groups and organisations explore problems, have meaningful conversations, and document and record the experiences that matter to them. Whether you want to work through a challenge, capture a personal or community history, or find a way to tell your story, I bring curiosity, experience and a willingness to listen.

This is a home for that work, for new conversations, and for the occasional necessary argument.

Beyond the working day

There’s a life
behind the words.

The sea, the landscape, a moment to pause. A few glimpses of the person behind the work.
